How teachers use it
At the calm down corner. A child who can't explain what happened can almost always point. Pointing is the first step to naming, and naming is the first step to regulating.
At morning meeting. Two minutes, everyone points to where they are today. You learn more about your class from that than from any behaviour chart.
Mid-meltdown. Not to fix it — just to give the child something to do with their hands and eyes while the wave passes.
